+ What is wrong with me?

We're here to help figure out why you're experiencing symptoms and if what you're experiencing is a concussion or another related issue. Through a thorough assessment with our team, we will review all of the results with you so you have a clear picture of what is wrong and what can be done about it.

+ How long will it take to get better?

Everyone's recovery from concussion and brain injury is unique. Many people feel better after a few days or weeks following a concussion - but it's not unusual for symptoms to last longer. Our goal is to get you back to normal as quickly as possible and not waste any time.

+ What can I do to start feeling better?

Start with educating yourself about your injury. We've put together some excellent resources on our resources pages. Then seek out good medical advice from your Doctor and consider giving us a call for support.

+ What can Tall Tree Concussion Program do to help?

We are here to help you through all aspects of recovery. The process begins with a consultation and assessment to figure out what issues you are dealing with. We then work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan to address any area of concern which might include physical, cognitive, balance, vision, mood or other issues. Our team will work through your challenges to get you back to normal and engaging in your usual life activities (whether that's school, sports, work, retirement, or anything at all).

+ WHAT MAKES TALL TREE DIFFERENT?

Tall Tree is a locally owned and operated, community-centred clinic which allows us to respond quickly to the community's needs, and keep up with evidence and clinical trends. We have no waitlist or wait times and are able to help right away. Our concussion program is a dedicated offering, allowing us to spend as much time with you as needed.

We've put together a team that can cover all of your needs under one roof. This enables collaboration and a team based approach that puts the expertise of a whole team at your disposal. If for any reason we need to call in extra help for you, Tall Tree can draw on strong community partnerships to find you the best additional care. Our clinicians hold themselves to the highest standard of care; using evidence-based and cutting edge techniques; continually pursuing ongoing education and professional development; and fostering a culture of clinical excellence, education, and learning.

Our team is dedicated to give you 100% of their attention and care. There is no bouncing between multiple patients.

We are happy to offer the convenience of flexible hours (we're open 8am-8pm) and direct billing to almost all third-party payors (Work Safe BC, ICBC, Pacific Blue Cross, Sunlife, Great West Life, Green Shield, and many more).

+ HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT BE?

Your initial visit will be 2 hours which includes a comprehensive assessment with our Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. If that's too long we are happy to see you twice over two days to give you rest in between.

From there, follow ups are typically 60-minutes for all our Concussion Program services (OT, PT, Kinesiology, or Counselling), but we're flexible to ensure that we meet your individual needs.

+ DO I NEED TO BRING OR WEAR ANYTHING SPECIFIC?

For your first visit and future appointments with Devon, Martina, or Laura, wear whatever you’re comfortable in.

If you’re coming in to see Curtis (our Physiotherapist) or Jeremy (our Kinesiologist) you’ll want to wear loose-fitting clothing that you can move easily and comfortably in.

+ DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

We don't require a referral for any of our services, however, some extended health plans do require a referral to be eligible for coverage. If you have extended health coverage and are hoping to be covered for your treatment, you may want to check the details of your plan.

+ WILL YOU BE ABLE TO WORK WITH MY DOCTOR AND OTHER MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS?

We will work closely with your family doctor or if you don’t have a doctor we will refer you to one of the specialists in our network. Tall Tree is connected to many health professionals in the area including, Medical Doctors, Neuropsychologists, Optometrists, and various other specialists.

+ DOES MSP COVER ANY OF THESE SERVICES?

If you qualify for Premium Assistance MSP, then MSP will cover $23 per visit, for up to 10 visits per year for physiotherapy. Otherwise, unfortunately, regular MSP doesn’t provide any coverage.

Many people will, however, be covered by their extended health plans. We try to make things easy for you and will usually be able to directly bill your service charge to your insurance provider.

+ CAN I BOOK ONLINE?

Absolutely! Head over to our online booking site to book assessments or follow ups. If it's your first time in we recommend you book 1 hour with OT and 1 hour with phsyio.

+ WHAT KIND OF TREATS DOES OBI LIKE?

Well, if you ask him, he’ll tell you “chicken”! With some degree of panache. That said, his tail gets to wagging with just about any meaty delight. His Dad is a bit precious and gives him dehydrated raw, but according to Obi, that’s more of a reflection on him.
